There was a long time ago
An empire that ruled the world;
There's not much left today
As our history unfurls.

It's sad that the family
Of humans cannot relate;
To the brotherhood of man
Since from the apple that Eve ate.

Unity of projects and ideas
Bring us together in different strands;
These can make a colourful whole
Uniting many, many lands.

The commonwealth does just that
With a common theme each year;
This year it's for the women
To try and make it clear.

We are all joined together
Brother, sister, daughter and son;
By women when we give birth
We're all somebodys mom.

Wealth is indeed uncommon
Ironic turn of phrase;
As our lack of sharing
Is why we're in this phase.

The ninety-nine per cent
Need to focus down;
On what is the only way
Or the planet on a closedown.

Life is such a gift
If only we could use it;
To the best of the possibilities
Use it wisely not abuse it.

Common goals are what's needed
To pull us all together;
Think of the bigger picture
Or we'll all be gone forever.

It brings our youth together
United in their future;
These voices hold their wisdom
Forward into the aperture.

Debates and competitions
With healthy rivalry;
Bringing them together
Appreciating diversity.

Every time around the world
Exhibitions and shows mark the day;
It let's us know quite certainly
These young people have a lot to say.

All shapes and sizes
God loves us all;
Some are short and
Some are tall.

Some are black and
Some are white;
Some come round and curvy
Others are stick thin
Others just are topsy turvy.

The point is that
It doesn't matter what's outside;
It's within our hearts to shine
Spreading joy worldwide.
