Not how did he die,but how did he live?
Not,what did he gain, but what did he give?
These are the units to measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.
Not what was his church, nor what was his creed?
But had he befriended those really in need?
Was he ever ready, with a word of good cheer,
To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?
Not what did the sketch in the newspaper did say,
But how many were sorry when he passed away?

Sunshine passes, shadows fall,
Love's remembrance outlasts all,
Though years be many or few,
All are filled with remembrance.

It's sometimes as if the calendar has stopped
The memory doesn't seem to fade;
I can't remember anything else this clear
Since in the earth you were laid.

Especially as the urn was small
I couldn't understand;
My mind just couldn't comprehend
In life you had been so grand.

The memories that you have left us with
Are overflowing with love and laughter;
We know you'll make the angels laugh
Whilst your hanging about in the hereafter.
So until we meet again my friend
You'd better not hang out at The Gates;
You don't want to get caught out

This day is remembered and quietly kept,
No words are needed, we shall never forget,
For those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day.
Unseen and unheard, but always near,
So loved, so missed, and so very dear.

Gone is the face we loved so dear
Silent is the face we loved to hear.
Too far away for sight or speech,
But not too far for thought to reach,
Sweet to remember him once here,
Who, though absent, is just as dear.

My lips cannot tell how I miss her,
My heart cannot tell what to say,
God alone knows how I miss her,
In a home that is lonesome today.

Or live again the past,
Within my heart are memories,
That will forever last.

But I love you all the more.
