There are those who do excuse
And use this for some romance;
But the struggle behind the lives of many
Is highlighted when given a chance.
Lots do have love and safety
There are millions who do not;
This day is a reminder of that
And appreciating what we've got.

Struggle, struggle, toil and trouble
No this is not Halloween;
Left holding the baby everytime
This is not how it should've been.
The scriptures say we are the weaker vessel
At this point we should be on our guard;
Don't think you can just walk over us
Don't take a mile when we've given a yard.
This just means we can be softer
Give the gentle touch to humankind;
We give birth and never wish
That anyone can never find.
The love and purpose we should have
To live in peace and harmony;
Teach the children peace and love
How to live in monogomy
Give stability, truth and love
To the planet that serves us well;
Maybe this will work on out
For this only time will tell.

There are the women who
Have worked right to the top;
The views not always good though
Sometimes wishing they could stop.
There is a place for everyone
Finding it is hard;
We're not the same in anyway
This can leave us scarred.
We are the matriarchs
In charge of family life;
Not prepared for this
When we became the wife.
This needs to be discussed a lot
As to where our place should be;
Respect and honor of our choice
Thoughtful love for you and me.

Whatever
you give a woman, she will make greater.
If you give her sperm she will make a baby.
If you give her a house , she will give you a home.
If you give her groceries, she’ll give you a meal.
If you give her a smile, she’ll give you her heart..
she multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.
So, if you give her any crap,
be ready to receive a ton of shit

So
why is a woman different
Because we listen see;
We look at all sides of the argument
Then we agree to disagree!
The men can't understand
Our hormones as they differ;
So just take it from one who knows
Or hold on to your stiffer.

I am a Black Woman
I am a black woman
the music of my song
some sweet arpeggio of tears
is written in a minor key
and I
can be heard humming in the night
Can be heard
humming
in the night
I saw my mate leap screaming to the sea
and I/with these hands/cupped the life breath
from my issue in the canebrake
I lost Nat's swinging body in a rain of tears
and heard my son scream all the way from Anzio
for Peace he never knew....I
learned Da Nang and Pork Chop Hill
in anguish
Now my nostrils know the gas
and these trigger tired fingers
seek the softness in my warrior's beard
I am a black woman
tall as a cypress
strong
beyond all definition still
defying place
and time
and circumstance
assailed
impervious
indestructible
Look
on me and be
renewed
