Parents Day Poems

The joy of many is heartbreak for some
Their lives spent with an empty womb;
There are many children out there
Who need that love, save them from gloom.
All their experiences will make them up
Into who they're going to be;
So let's make a difference
Let's do it properly.
Not an easy task but a rewarding one
Needing many hands to hold;
From Mom and Dad & Grandma too
Family friends and teachers gold.
Within this worldwide family
We're all siblings to one another;
Let's remember that at all times
And welcome all our brothers.

This long held joyous thing
That really does make the heart sing;
Little do we know when we give birth
Just how long it feels on this earth.
Then suddenly they've grown
How did that happen, themselves they own;
Then the successful parenting identified
Can we honestly say that we tried?

Children follow the example
Set by all of us;
Our behaviour toward them
At home or on a bus.
Ours or not it doesn't matter
How we speak and act at times;
Affects all of their reactions
They don't understand, they mime.
This then becomes a habit
Once ingrained they can't ignore;
So what we do and how we do it
What we say and how is the core.

Our children are our future
We need to nurture well;
Otherwise this planet of ours
Is on it's way to hell.
****
Babies don't come with a handbook
We follow how our childhood went;
Or go in an opposite direction
Causing havoc when all effort is spent.
We try our best and some are great
But all of us could do better;
For there's no greater love
Than a child for it's pater.
They arrive all innocent and pure
Only later do we realise the reponsibility we had;
As adults they stand before us
Tall and proud or maybe sad and bad.
So lets celebrate the joys of parenthood
Caring and sharing all our love;
With these little people just like us
That have been a gift from God above.
