Poems for a Funeral Service
****
As we are all standing here together
With hearts so full of love;
Our memories of you are stirring
The angels into action up above.
You will be welcomed like the king
That you was to us in life;
You take our love wrapped round you
From your ever loving wife.

If
tears could build a stairway,
And memories a lane,
I’d walk right up to heaven
And bring you home again.
****
It's been a long road that we have travelled
And now you're going on alone;
I don't know how I'll carry on
With this heart of mine turned to stone.
I miss you with my every heartbeat
With my every single waking second;
My tears have dried up for now
But very soon they will be beckoned.
At a smell or a sound, a tune or a taste,
The floods of tears return;
I will soon be carrying you for the very last time
When you have been placed inside your urn.

Time has taken me from you,
Although not very far.
I'll be watching through the sunshine
And through the brightest star.
I'll be watching all of you,
From the heavens up above.
So take good care of each other
And carry all my love.
If you're ever wondering
If I'm there, here's where you can start.
Take a look inside yourself
Deep within your heart.
I'll always be your baby,
Your child (grandchild), your best friend.
So anytime you need me,
Close your eyes I'm back again.

Weep Not For Me
Weep not for me though I am gone
Into the gentle night;
Grieve if you will, but not for long
Upon my souls sweet flight.
There is no need for tears.
I am at peace, my soul is at rest;
There is no pain, I suffer not,
For with your love I was so blessed.
I am in a place of comfort
The fear now is gone.
Put those things out of your thoughts,
In your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath
Remember not the strife
Please do not dwell upon my death
But celebrate my life!!
****
When I am gone, release me -let me go
I have so many things to see and do.
You must not tie yourself to me with tears
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you love, you can only guess
how much you gave me in happiness;
I thank you for the love each have shown
But now it is time I travelled alone.
So grieve awhile for me if grieve you must,
Then let your grief be comforted by trust;
It is only for a while that we must part
So bless those memories within your heart.
I will not be far away, for life goes on.
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you cannot see or touch me, I will be near
And if you listen with your heart, you will hear.
All of my love around you, soft and clear.
Then when you must come this way alone,
I will greet you with a smile
and a "welcome home"

There's magic in a Mother's touch,
And sunshine in her smile.
There's love in everything she does
To make our lives worthwhile.
We can find both hope and courage
Just by looking in her eyes.
Her laughter is a source of joy,
Her works are warm and wise.
There is a kindness and compassion
To be found in her embrace,
And we see the light of heaven
Shining from a Mother's face.
