Sometimes things are not meant to be
It tears our hearts in two;
We were those ones who never
Got it together-me and you.
Over the years I have remembered
Just how it might have been;
But we were told in no uncertain terms
That this was never going to be seen.
Why did we listen, why did we miss
The love of a lifetime a gift from up above;
That our hearts that were so full up
Overflowing with all this love.

Jack be nimble
Jack be quick;
Can you jump over
This candlestick.
We used to skip to that old tune
Playing doctors and nurses;
Our parents moved
We lost touch-curses.
****
How can I live without you
When you're etched on my DNA;
Our souls entwined together
Forever and a day.
No matter how long it takes
I will be by your side again;
Until then my love I'll miss you
Whilst my teardrops fall like rain.

However long I'm here
Your memory will always live;
The quarter of a century gone
And all my love to give.
You were the best thing in my life
You shared a life with mine;
Through our daughter
Our love will always shine.

We can't have old days back,
When we were all together,
But secret tears and loving thoughts,
Will be with us forever.

Love doesn't melt just like the snow
It reaches higher than the clouds;
The depths within our oceans expanse
Into my very soul it gouged.
Too big and grand and very deep
Too little and too low;
The power of this love of ours
Is with me wherever I go.

Why did you have to leave
Why did you have to go;
I suppose there will always be
Some things I'll never know.
It makes it hard as you left
Me without a heart to give;
I'm only half as good
And only half a life to live.
