St Patricks Day Poems
****

The spirit of the Irish
Is pure joy to behold;
There good luck wishes
Are worth more than pure gold.

The Blarney stone is in them all
Stories dripping from their lips;
How to enjoy a good time
They can give us all their tips.

Leprechauns and shamrocks
With a clover in the treasure;
They're all in with the Guiness
Thrown in for good measure.

Full of love and laughter
Heard all around the world;
Flowing down the Liffey
Riverdancing to the swirled

To the land of his masters
A shepherd boy came;
But to conquer their hearts
Not to seek for his fame.

And now his blessed name is known
All the world wide;
And the glory of Patrick
Is Ireland's best pride.

A pint of Guiness is something else
Not to be hurried down;
It pours quite slowly in the glass
Time for chatting on the town.

The brewery takes you to the top
It's good for you and feeds you up;
Look around from  the circular view
Whilst you are having a nice long sup.

The grass is always greener
When you're looking over the hill;
But I'm afraid that Ireland
Has greener grass even still.

A Toast from Ireland:

May you be poor in misfortune
Rich in blessings;
Slow to make enemies
Quick to make friends
But rich or poor,
Quick or slow,
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.

For the greenest country in the world
The Emerald Isle it's called;
The blessings of St Patrick
Be with you one and all.

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

I'll Wear a Shamrock

St. Patrick's Day is with us,
The day when all that's seen
To right and left and everywhere
Is green, green, green!

And Irish tunes they whistle
And Irish songs they sing,
To-day each Irish lad walks out
As proud as any king.

I'll wear a four-leaf shamrock
In my coat, the glad day through,
For my father and mother are Irish
And I am Irish too!

****

If only I were Irish
I've said that many times;
I'm glad they let me pretend
When St Patricks bells chime.

All around the world
Large celebrations quickly gather;
Momentum, pace and alcohol
There's nothing that I'd rather.
